Privacy policy

BetterCareScotland guards your data as jealously as we do our own!

We designed BetterCareScotland‘s processes from the outset to comply with your data protection rights. As an evidence-based social care campaigner, we champion individuals, in essence, by crunching numbers, so we do not need personal information.

By whichever means you engage with us, we collect only anonymised data. These data are stored indefinitely by us, jealously-guarded, for the purpose of refining our analyses over time. We have no incentive to share or disclose to others any data you provide. Since we are unfunded, there are no conflicts of interest to compromise our campaign model. This is rare in modern Scotland.

From our own experiences, we understand that the retaliation people face for having the courage to blow the whistle disincentivises others from doing so. Whistleblowing policies do not work: they are, in effect, mere window-dressing … virtue-signalling … and provide no protection for the brave individuals who invoke them. This is why those at the highest level blow the whistle only at the end of their careers when they have nothing to lose. Our systems and processes are designed, therefore, to enable you to engage with us anonymously.

Our surveys and polling are conducted anonymously and, should you wish to leave a comment on the BetterCareScotland feedback form at the foot of our Home Page, you may do so by completing only the ‘My message’ box. Our firewalls are designed to detect and block spam and malware so that we can have confidence in the integrity of our data.

To receive automated Blog Posts and Newsletters direct to your email inbox, you will need to provide your email address. Our processes are fully automated, requiring no manual intervention by us. By providing your email address, you consent to being kept in the loop via email until you unsubscribe from the service, which you can do at any time.

If you contact us by email or provide your contact details via a feedback form, we will retain your data for no longer than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which you provided them.

BetterCareScotland’s website and blog posts are free from embedded content but may include links to other websites. By clicking on a link to another website, you will be subject to the privacy policy of that site as if you had visited the website directly.
